Duties
- Supervise children during afterschool hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging youth activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and educational projects
- Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior management techniques to promote respectful interactions
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to first aid protocols and being prepared to respond with CPR or AED operation if necessary
- Support children with homework assistance or tutoring to reinforce learning concepts
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities aligned with youth development goals
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children's progress and behavior updates
- Ensure compliance with all childcare regulations, including outdoor safety procedures and emergency protocols
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational, childcare, camp, or youth program settings is highly preferred
- Demonstrated classroom management skills and experience in behavior management strategies
- Knowledge of first aid procedures, CPR certification, AED operation, and first aid protocols required; certification must be maintained current
- Experience facilitating youth group activities or leading outdoor work projects is advantageous
- Background in early childhood education or childhood development enhances your suitability for this role
- Proven ability to lead team efforts in a childcare or camp environment with enthusiasm and professionalism
- Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners
