Contract Videographer (San Francisco, Bay Area)

The Next Something helps startups and VCs tell their story through cinematic, founder-led videos built around what matters most to them, like hiring, product updates, and raise announcements. We capture key moments in a company’s journey and turn them into stories that build traction, attract investors and talent, and create credibility.
Role description
We’re looking for talented San Francisco Bay Area-based videographers for ongoing contract work across multiple shoots. You’ll be our on-the-ground operator for founder-led content and clean, modern startup storytelling.
Most shoots are half-day, and we’ll provide clear briefs, references, and production expectations.
What you’ll do
- Film premium, cinematic founder-led videos (often interview-style, with 2 camera angles)
- Set lighting for a clean, modern look with strong composition
- Capture high-quality audio (lavs and/or boom) with a clean on-set workflow
- Deliver organised footage for handoff, with consistent file naming and structure
- Follow references tightly and execute consistently across multiple projects
What we’re looking for
- Skilful camera operation for interview-style and founder-led content
- Strong lighting fundamentals and a polished, cinematic look
- Clear communication and reliability (we’re based in New Zealand)
- Strong colour grading experience and the ability to deliver colour-graded footage when required
- A portfolio showing cinematic brand, startup, or founder-led work
