Family Support Specialist - Healthy Families Oregon Program

Worksite Location: Gilliam, Sherman, Wasco, and Wheeler Counties. 1-2 monthly meetings in The Dalles and/or Hood River. Company car or mileage reimbursement provided for travel to home visits and meetings.

Work Schedule: Full-Time; 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday; 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Wage Range: $23.60 - $25.68 per hour

Bilingual Differential Pay: $0.50 per hour worked

Reports to: Healthy Families Program Supervisor

Who we are looking for?

We’re looking for someone who loves working with families and wants to help parents give their babies the best possible start in life. We need someone who enjoys being organized and getting things done on their own but also wants to be part of a kind and supportive team.

What you will do…

• Support parents of babies and young children (prenatal to age 3).
• Visit families in their homes and build strong, trusting relationships.
• Help parents bond with their babies and understand how their children grow and develop.
• Share helpful parenting tips and activities, including safety and health topics.
• Support parents in setting and reaching their own goals.
• Connect families with helpful programs and community resources.
• Keep notes and records about your visits and family progress.
• Meet weekly with your supervisor for guidance and support.
• Attend team meetings, training, and other required events.
• Connect with community partners who work with families.
• Collaborate with local organizations to encourage referrals and improve services.
• Outreach to families with new babies to share information and screen for program eligibility.
• Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Requirements …

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with auto liability insurance
• Strong computer software skills
• Ability to communicate clearly by telephone, email and other written documents
• Successful completion of a comprehensive background check

Preferred:

• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• College coursework, AA, or BA
• Infant Mental Health endorsement
• Experience providing services to children and families with culturally diverse backgrounds.
