THE NEXT 50

The Next 50 (TN50) prepares candidates to win America’s toughest races—and works to build elected Democratic majorities in every state and district that’ll do the hard work of rebuilding this country. At The Next 50, we’re committed to building enduring majorities at all levels. We do that by investing in next-generation candidates early—providing high-impact financial and strategic support to leaders in competitive districts.

Our job is to identify and support the talent who will lead the Democratic Party forward over the next 50 years. These are the leaders who are going to address the most pressing issues of our time. We identify principled, pragmatic, and energetic candidates early in their careers. We support them with early endorsements and infusions of cash, and we connect them to our network of donors with next-generation leaders who are ready to build enduring Democratic majorities.

Position Overview

TN50’s next Finance Director will architect and scale a national fundraising operation capable of generating $3 million in annual revenue and sustaining year-over-year growth beyond that threshold. The Finance Director will design and execute a comprehensive, multi-channel finance strategy spanning major donors, events and donor circles, bundling, digital fundraising, and institutional support. The work will require both strategic clarity and operational discipline.

The core charge is straightforward: create a predictable, high-performance revenue engine.

At TN50, Finance Director is a Senior Staff position of significant influence, responsibility & opportunity reporting directly to TN50’s Executive Director, Hon. Mari Manoogian, and will work with TN50 staff, board of directors, and endorsed Leaders.

What You Will Build

Over the first 12–18 months, the Finance Director will establish a finance program calibrated to exceed $3 million annually, sequencing growth across revenue streams and aligning strategy with the election cycle.

This includes expanding and upgrading the major donor base; structuring donor circles and events into repeatable, high-yield channels; integrating TN50’s network with endorsed Leaders’ fundraising efforts; and strengthening digital revenue to diversify and stabilize cash flow.

Equally important is infrastructure. The Finance Director will institutionalize disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM practices, ensuring that revenue can be measured, projected, and improved quarter over quarter.

Qualifications

You are a builder. You are motivated by ambitious targets and energized by the work of refining process until it performs.

You bring substantial fundraising experience—at least two cycles in Democratic campaigns, PACs, or mission-driven organizations—and a demonstrated ability to raise significant revenue while managing complexity. You are comfortable with direct donor solicitation, confident setting strategy, and disciplined in execution.

You are proactive rather than reactive. You identify opportunities, pressure-test assumptions, and pursue growth without waiting to be asked. Most importantly, you want to take an organization at an inflection point and help move it to the next level of institutional strength.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $100,000–$120,000, negotiable commensurate with experience
  • Competitive benefits package, including 401(k)
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Remote work flexibility (U.S.-based)
  • Travel up to approximately 15% of time

How To Apply

Please email a cover letter, resume, at least two references (including one supervisor and one direct report, if applicable), and a writing sample consisting of a series of draft proposals to institutional donors to careers@thenext50.us. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
