Overview
The Library for the Performing Arts (LPA) hosts over 200 public programs and events in our 200 seat auditorium, in our flexible spaces, and on the larger Lincoln Center campus, all in service to highlighting its archival holdings and inspiring the next generation of artists and arts lovers. This position is a member of the Programming and Production team, which is responsible for the technical production of Public Programs, Events, and Exhibitions at the Library for the Performing Arts.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Projectionist/Technician is responsible for screening video and films of various formats, live audio engineering for events/programs, and installation of Audio/Visual Equipment across LPA’s Galleries, the Bruno Walter Auditorium, and other programmable spaces.
  • Execute all aspects of film screening, including 16mm and 35mm. Operate digital projection equipment to screen digital/video content in multiple formats including computer playback, DCP server playback, BluRay, DVD, and VHS.
  • Live audio mixing for events and programs, ranging from lectures and conversations to concerts and other performances
  • Collaboratively work with Production & Exhibitions departments, to complete the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of any audio/visual components in LPA’s Exhibitions
  • Operate lighting console to set various house/stage lighting presets for programs, events, and screenings
  • Other related duties as necessary

Required Education, Experience & Skills

Required Education & Certifications
  • Must be a member of IATSE Local 306, or become a member of Local 306
Required Experience
  • Experience in film and digital projection
  • Experience with live audio (e.g. A1 or A2)
  • Experience with digital projectors, playback devices, and DCP
  • Experience in event production, with an ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders
Required Skills
  • Exceptional knowledge of professional grade 16mm and 35mm projectors, principles of film inception and the handling of archival materials
  • Skilled in audio engineering for live events
  • Ability to troubleshoot commercial-grade audio-visual & theatrical equipment and perform basic maintenance
  • Knowledge of film screening process

Schedule
