JOB DESCRIPTION:


The Laser Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining laser cutting machines, tools, and related equipment to produce quality parts that support production operations. This role ensures parts are manufactured accurately and efficiently while meeting established safety, quality, and production standards.


In addition to laser cutting operations, the Laser Machine Operator may perform various production activities, including assembling parts, operating other machinery, fabricating metal components, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. The position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a production team.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate laser cutting machines and other production equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Assist other machine operators and support overall production activities as needed.
  • Select and install appropriate lenses based on material type and thickness; load programs, set machine parameters, and configure fixtures to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Establish proper stop locations and adjust laser beam focal points to achieve accurate cutting results.
  • Monitor system and process gas levels and communicate reordering needs as required.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and focus while performing assigned tasks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Perform dimensional inspections to verify parts meet required specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify and report defective materials, equipment issues, or other conditions that may impact production quality or safety.
  • Perform general machine shop operations to support the production and fabrication of metal components.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of machine functions, operating procedures, and production requirements.
  • Accept guidance, training, and support related to machine setup and operation.
  • Operate equipment with minimal supervision after completing required training while following work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while contributing to a positive workplace culture.


WORK REQUIREMENTS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee may be exposed to the following conditions while performing the essential functions of this position:

  • Fumes, vapors, and airborne particles associated with manufacturing processes.
  • Moving mechanical equipment and machine-related hazards.
  • Vibration from operating production machinery.
  • Elevated noise levels requiring the use of appropriate hearing protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policies.

The physical demands listed below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform repetitive movements as required.
  • Frequently lift and/or move materials weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move materials weighing up to 65 pounds or more.
  • Perform tasks requiring visual acuity, including: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
