What We're Looking For in a Highly Qualified Candidate:
Social Studies Teacher
- Passion for history, civics, and geography with the ability to connect past and present
- Strong emphasis on reading comprehension and writing in a social studies context
- Uses student-centered strategies, like debates, document-based questions (DBQs), and project-based learning
- Encourages critical thinking and multiple perspectives
- Integrates social studies content with literacy and research skills
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid Michigan teaching certification or the ability to obtain one
- Previous classroom experience at the middle school level strongly preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to student achievement, equity, and growth
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Salary Range: Starting pay 50,000.00 (negotiable)
Pay increases based on experience.
Starting Date: Immediately
Retirement: 401K with 4% and another 4% matching by the school
