Volleyball Coach

Job Title:      Head Coach - Volleyball, MS physical Ed./Fitness

Reports to:  Athletic Director

Part Time - Professional

School Year Hours: 

Monday to Friday: Avg 4 to 6 hrs per day, depending on the day.

• 1.5 hours/day with Middle School (6th-8th) Volleyball 3 to 5 days per week

• 2 hours/day with Upper School (9th-12th) Volleyball 5 days per week

• 1 hour/day PE/Fitness

• 1 hour/week allotted for athletic dept. meetings/program building

Summer Hours: 

Only where necessary to facilitate sport practices/games/camps

• Team Camps in July/August

• Practices set by Coach

• Volleyball Camp/Clinic led by Coach

Job Summary

• The Head Coach - Volleyball will be primarily responsible for overseeing the entire Volleyball program Middle School thru Upper School. As well, they will work with our Youth Sports Director to help facilitate the proper development process for grades K-5th. This position does not include a teaching role, but does require support of the Middle School Physical Education class. If applicable there will be opportunity to support our female athletes in other sports such as Basketball, XC, Track, and/or Tennis.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Scheduling all Volleyball practices/games/camps, and any necessary transportation with the support of the Director of Operations.

• Find a volunteer assistant coach that can work as your direct support.

• Willing and able to drive a 12 or 15 seater passenger van up to 2 hours to a from campus.

• Coordinating all Game Day needs for Volleyball with our Director of Operations.

• Athletic registrations for all Volleyball leagues/tournaments/events

• Collaborating with the Athletic Director, along with different division heads within the academic space to ensure a quality working relationship between athletics and academics. 

• Coordinate Volleyball related events on the athletic calendar with the Director of Operations.

• Manage all VB communications with parents via Stack Team App

• Work with the Athletic Director and Director of Operations to coordinate getting all team gear and clothing prepared ahead of the season.

• Spearhead organizing and planning for any team led Volleyball specific fundraising.

• Keep an available space and open door policy for our female student athletes in an effort to foster healthy relationships and whole person development specifically for our female student athletes.

• Collaborate with the rest of the athletic department to help facilitate the TNS Athletic Golf Tournament Fundraiser, which includes being at the event on the day it is held.

• Creating and hosting VB Camps or Clinics within the school year and/or summer.

• Work hand in hand with our Youth Sports Director to ensure alignment within all of our VB programming.

• Being actively involved in the Spring and Summer planning months for the upcoming school years.

• Partnering with the Admissions team, Athletic Director, and Director of Operations to coordinate the Application Process for potential student-athletes. Including but not limited to, Financial Aid, Applications, Scholarship support, and potential Re-Enrollment for any potential Volleyball Student-Athletes

• Co-Lead Middle School P.E./Fitness with another athletic coach

• If applicable, assist coaching for Girls Basketball team both in games and practices

• If applicable, assist coaching for Track and Field both in games and practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher - Preference in Sports

• (2 yrs) Experience communicating via Email, Teams, and/or by Phone to a community of players and parents.

• (2 yrs) Coaching Volleyball teams with players between ages of 12 and 18.

• Experience coaching in the Club Volleyball space and the college recruitment process

• (2 yrs) Developing beginner level volleyball players through skill development

• Preferred: Experience in an Athletic Operations role working with student-athletes in school or club sports 

• Preferred: Experience creating and implementing Operations processes for a sport program

• Preferred: Experience working with Google Workspace; Sheets, Docs, Calendar, Email. Understanding the difference between youth sports and Varsity sports. Works well within a team setting
