What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Installer position at The Network Operations Company?
Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, fiber optic, coaxial, etc.)
- Onsite installation of networking hardware and working with our team on physical connectivity and power management
- Mount and configure network equipment, access points, cameras, and other low-voltage devices
- Help with project planning and onsite installation logistics.
- Onsite support as needed including cable testing and “smart hands” around network hardware
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations and labeling
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, NEC) and safety protocols
- Work outdoors and in various environments (attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, etc.)
Requirements
- Working knowledge of low-voltage cabling best practices and industry standards
- Experience with cable testers, tone generators, and basic networking tools
- Ability to read and interpret floor plans and cabling diagrams
- Cursory understanding or interest in computer networking
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong attention to detail and customer service skills
