Salary: $16 - $18 per hour, DOE

Job Summary:
The Museum Educator plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, engaging educational programs for K–12 students, teachers, and families at The Neon Museum. This part-time position focuses on the implementation of on-site field trips and family programs, using a pre-designed curriculum that integrates Las Vegas history, science, and the arts. Reporting to the K–12 Education Manager, the Educator ensures a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about informal education, approachable, and confident working with learners of all ages in both structured and dynamic settings.

Essential Job Functions
- Facilitate on-site school field trips, utilizing lesson plans and activity guides developed by the K–12 Education Manager.
- Assist with development of content, activities, and materials for programs like field trips and STEAM Family Fest
- Attend and deliver hands-on learning activities at STEAM Family Fest events and other public learning programs.
- Monitor student and chaperone behavior, exercise classroom management skills, and enforce museum safety protocols during field trips and public programs.
- Collaborate with the K–12 Education Manager and Museum Education Coordinator to assure proper staffing for all field trips.
- Support program setup and breakdown for student and family education activities.
- Assist with the administrative tasks, including tracking, evaluation, and printing.
- Help organize and inventory education program supplies.
- Adhere to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Background in Education, Museum Studies, History, Art History, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children in a formal or informal learning environment.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
Desired Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage learners of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Informal or formal teaching experience preferred.
- Comfortable speaking to groups and facilitating hands-on activities.
- Familiarity with the Clark County School District and the Nevada Academic Content Standards.
- Knowledge of Las Vegas history and culture is a plus.
- Demonstrated customer service mindset and ability to work positively with youth, families, and educators.
- Versatility, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm and focused in fast-paced, dynamic settings.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Work Context
- Part-time position with flexible scheduling required.
- Requires availability on weekday mornings and occasional Saturday mornings to assist with STEAM Family Fest.
- Requires both indoor and outdoor work, including in seasonal desert temperatures.
- Requires regular and consistent attendance.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 3 hours without rest.
- Ability to remain focused and productive despite frequent interruptions.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to use computers and other office equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a car for travel to off-site programs as needed.
