As a Guest Services Officer (Temporary Project), you will support the Green Roof Project by providing dedicated oversight of contractors and vendors. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a major campus initiative while helping maintain safety, security, and operational excellence during active construction.
What You’ll Do
As a Guest Services Officer assigned to this project, you will focus on contractor oversight, access control, and safety monitoring.
Responsibilities include:
Contractor Escort & Access Control
Escort vendors and contractors to designated work areas, verify credentials, and ensure proper sign-in and sign-out procedures. Maintain accountability for all individuals on-site.
Site Monitoring & Observation
Maintain a consistent presence in or near construction zones to observe activity and ensure compliance with museum policies and approved work areas.
Safety & Risk Awareness
Identify and report safety hazards, suspicious behavior, or policy violations. Support emergency response protocols as needed.
Communication & Coordination
Act as a liaison between contractors and museum staff, coordinating with Security, Facilities, and Project Management teams.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate logs of contractor activity, access, and incidents. Complete reports in accordance with museum procedures.
Professional Conduct
Uphold museum policies and maintain a firm, respectful presence while enforcing safety and access requirements.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Customer service, hospitality, or public-facing experience preferred.
Ability to obtain a Kansas City Private Officer Security License if required.
Core Competencies
Strong situational awareness and attention to detail.
Ability to follow and enforce access control procedures consistently.
Clear and professional communication skills.
Sound judgment and ability to escalate concerns appropriately.
Ability to work independently in a structured environment.
Professional demeanor and adherence to uniform standards.
Schedule
This is a temporary project-based role with a varying schedule, including evenings, weekends, and potential extended shifts based on construction activity. Please indicate your schedule preference and any limitations to your flexibility in your cover letter.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a temporary, hourly position that is benefits-eligible.
