Assistant Security Supervisor - Overnight

Description

The National WWII Museum is currently seeking an Assistant Security Supervisors for the overnight shift. Reporting to the Director of Security, the Assistant Security Supervisor assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the Museum campus. This role provides daily supervisory oversight of security officers, ensures adherence to departmental policies and procedures, and assists with operational, administrative, and emergency response responsibilities. The Assistant Security Supervisor also serves as a resource with advanced knowledge of Museum security systems and control room operations.

Requirements

• Ensure the safety and security of all guests, staff, collections, and Museum property, taking decisive and appropriate action when necessary. Provides immediate assistance during medical, fire, security, or other emergency situations.
• Edit incident reports; respond to incidents requiring supervisory input.
• Conduct walking, stationary, and driving security patrols in accordance with assigned post orders; provide parking lot security and enforcement of parking lot policy.
• Provide access control throughout Museum facilities following established procedures; assists with maintaining keys and issuing and managing access cards.
• When assigned, perform all duties of the Control Room Officer, including monitoring CCTV systems and alarms, responding to fire, intrusion, and access control alerts, and maintaining daily logs and documentation; also assists with managing Lost & Found procedures, coordinating with vendors, and responding to staff service requests.
• Execute all duties in a manner that promotes exceptional public relations.
• Direct guests and groups in accordance with the plan of the day and Museum procedures; oversees bag checks as required.
• Report all incidents of loss, theft, or suspicious activity to the Director or Security Managers.
• Assist in supervising daily operations assignments for all security officers; manages lunch breaks and breaks for frontline officers; fills in for Supervisors as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Security or Security Managers.
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required, associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a security, military, or law enforcement role required; minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and experience with security equipment and surveillance systems.
• CPR / First Aid and emergency response training a plus.
• Strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills.
• Strong observation and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in writing reports required.
• Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.
• Physically fit and capable of standing or patrolling for extended periods.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• A current and valid driver’s license is required.
