Manager, Donor Engagement

The National Park Foundation
Washington, DC Full Time
POSTED ON 9/1/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/1/2026

Position Overview

The Manager, Donor Engagement is a key member of the Donor Engagement team within the Philanthropy division, working closely with fundraising, program, and external relations teams to identify and coordinate opportunities to engage and steward donors to the National Park Foundation.

Reporting to the Director, Donor Relations, the Manager partners with fundraisers to ensure that donors understand the overall impact of their donations to NPF, including a small donor portfolio of their own. The Manager oversees and executes ongoing and emerging donor relations areas for responsibility and implements a variety of stewardship and recognition tactics for NPF’s donors, including tracking incoming requests and shepherding complex reviews with leaders across the enterprise.

Successful candidates will possess savvy people skills, project management know-how, and clear writing skills. They will be energized by our fast-paced and rapidly growing and evolving fundraising environment, as well as a commitment to the mission of the National Park Foundation.

To note: This position is an individual contributor role and does not have direct people-management responsibilities.

Essential Functions/Duties/Tasks:

  •  Stewardship Strategy & Donor Engagement (70%)
  • Stewardship Mapping: In partnership with gift officers, serve as a stewardship partner to plan, execute, and track detailed stewardship plans including donor communications, unique touches, and recognition throughout the donor’s giving lifecycle.
  • Teddy Roosevelt Society: oversee this recognition group [for lifetime donors of $ 1M ], including annual report recognition, Welcome packets, comms, and stewardship touches.
  • Fundraising resources: Partner with NPF colleagues and leaders to re-envision, create, and oversee NPF printed resources and branded materials to support fundraising efforts. Ensure all materials are refreshed and “restocked” as needed.
  • Lifetime Stewardship Portfolio: Manage a targeted stewardship portfolio, ensuring lifetime donors remain connected to the NPF mission: respond to inquiries, identify opportunities for further engagement, and connect donors to gift officers when there is interest in making a new gift.
  • Gift Agreements: Work with gift officers to document major and principal gifts. Use gift agreement templates and follow NPF gift documentation procedures. Partner with fundraisers to schedule related stewardship touches and updates, ensuring alignment with grant reporting and engagement schedules.
  • Database/CRM: Develop, track, and report on donor relations metrics regularly and evaluate the use and efficacy of stewardship tactics.

Help with logistics for in person, virtual, and hybrid events: venue and site selection, run of show, vendors, catering, invitations, registration, A/V needs, collateral, day of staffing, and event follow-up.

Establish and maintain NPS contacts to create personalized onsite experiences when appropriate. In collaboration with fundraisers, create detailed itineraries for donor park visits.
  • Donor Communications & Recognition (10%)
    • Donor Recognition: Establish guidelines and implement recognition for donors; work with fundraising colleagues to share operational understanding for donor recognition opportunities. Track, report, and manage donor recognition to ensure that donors are recognized for their contributions, including NPF media announcements, recognition panels in parks (following NPS guidelines), and other promised deliverables.
    • Communications: Draft donor emails and letters and assemble mailings, as needed (i.e., Annual Reports, Impact Reports, etc.).
