Role Summary:

The Room Attendant ensures that the rooms are clean, neat, and tidy at all times. This involves making sure that the general appearance of the room is not only hygienic but that it is also well decorated to make the room look attractive and very appealing to the guests inhabiting it.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with the National Hotel quality of service standards, and policies and procedures. Associates will be required to learn other functions in an effort to attain cross training skill sets that will help grow the overall knowledge of the Guest experience expectations.

As someone who has a passion for people, and enjoys a fast-paced environment, a core duty for all Associates is effectively multi-tasking, a quintessential factor to the success of their role.

  • Ensure that guest rooms are fully stocked, clean and acceptable to customers.
  • Check with the front desk about guest check-outs each day, and also check the room, as well as the bathroom and closet, to be sure that guests have vacated and removed their belongings from the room.
  • Check over the inventory of room furnishings after guests depart and if there is any damage to the room or if items have been left behind, it is the duty of the room attendant to report it to his supervisor or hotel management.
  • Visit guest rooms, stripping the beds and replacing fresh linens and providing clean towels to guests.
  • Vacuum any carpeted areas of the room and clean floors and upholstery such as couches and chairs.
  • Provide light cleaning including dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, washing windows and mirrors and emptying garbage before new guests arrive.
  • Clean carefully all your assigned rooms, keeping in mind the details and National Hotel standards.
  • As associate you have to follow the professional appearance established by The National Hotel, taking great care in your personal appearance.
  • As a Hospitality Employee you must be willing to assist with all demands within the scope of what is being asked to do. As long as there is no violation of policies and or code of ethics.
  • Turn in any items that have been left behind by guests and ensure that all appliances, televisions, telephones, and heating and cooling systems are functioning properly.
  • Often provide complimentary turn-down service for guests, provide them with extra pillows or towels upon request, pick up and drop off dry cleaning, shine shoes and perform seamstress duties.
  • Ensure guest privacy by being careful only to enter rooms when they are empty so as not to intrude upon guests.
  • Take every opportunity to impress the guest.
  • Smile, make eye contact and greet guests immediately upon each encounter.
  • Wear uniform and name tag with pride
  • Be groomed according to The National Standards
  • Properly handle special requests
  • Anticipate and exceed guest expectations.
  • Follow correct procedures for entering a guest room.
  • Keep voices and other noise low on guest floors, especially in the morning.
  • If necessary, assist guests with their luggage.
  • Promptly respond to and resolve guest complaints.
  • Deliver cribs and other requests to guest rooms.
  • Make sure you do all your assignments during your 8 working hours, it is not permit to leave any dirty room under any circumstance, only if the housekeeping manager agree with special situation like a late c/o at 5pm.
  • Properly use chemicals, cleaners, and cleaning equipment (reading).
  • Participate in deep cleaning.
  • Assist in other housekeeping or maintenance responsibilities, if needed.
  • Turns in articles found in public areas to lost and found.
  • Perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing special guest requests.
  • Assist other housekeeping staff members in maintaining clean and organized work and public areas.
  • Take every opportunity to impress the guest.
  • Promptly respond to and resolve guest complaints.
  • Anticipate and exceed guest expectations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • Must have completed High School or GED Diploma.
  • Experience as a Room Attendant preferably in a five-star international hotel. Hospitality and Tourism experience preferred.

Safety Requirements:

All Associates are required to abide by all Safety rules and ensure they perform each task by practicing safe work habits. Any associate who incurs any type of injury is required to report immediately to their immediate supervisor or the Security Officer on duty.

  • Ability to flex legs at the knee so that individual can lower the body coming to rest on one or both knees.
  • Ability to grasp, hold, set down, redirect with hands, turn, control, and manipulate objects.
  • Ability to stretch body and extend arms to place or secure objects at a distance above, to the side of or below the normal standing level of the individual.
  • Ability to flex legs at the knees to lower body position.
  • Ability to move about on hands and knees and/or feet by mobilizing those body parts.
  • Ability to use body parts, arms, hands, shoulders and back, to elevate an object above its previous surface level.
  • Ability to ascend steps, ladders, and other vertical and semi-vertical surfaces to reach a higher level.
  • Ability to use body parts on a regular and continuing basis to repeat the same motions for a reasonable period without resting: Sweeping, Vacuuming, Wiping, Mopping.
  • Ability to flex legs at the knees and move the upper body forward and down.

Language Requirements:

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk; full dexterity in use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
