What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Infant Nanny position at The Nanny Booth?
SHORT-TERM INFANT NANNY – MENDHAM, NJ
A warm family in Mendham, NJ is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and experienced nanny to care for their 5-month-old baby for approximately four months, from November 2026 through February 2027. The preferred start date is November 2, with November 9 being the latest possible start date.
The schedule is Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with 32 guaranteed hours per week.
Compensation is $32–$35/hour depending on experience and will be paid legally via payroll (W-4). Mom works from home and will be present throughout the day, so the family is looking for someone who is comfortable working collaboratively with a parent in the home while confidently and independently managing the baby’s care and routine. Driving the baby is not required, although candidates must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and their own reliable vehicle for transportation to and from work. The family has one friendly dog and two friendly cats, so candidates must be comfortable with both dogs and cats. The family also has a pre-planned trip during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. This will be an unpaid week and will be communicated and agreed upon prior to hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include providing attentive and nurturing care for the baby; feeding and bottle preparation; preparing age-appropriate foods, including making puréed foods in batches as needed; diaper changes; following and maintaining nap and feeding routines; tummy time and age-appropriate developmental activities; and engaging the baby through play, reading, music, and interaction. The nanny will also be responsible for keeping baby-related areas clean and organized, washing bottles and cleaning up after the baby, light tidying/cleaning during downtime, and maintaining open communication with Mom throughout the day.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of recent professional nanny experience and strong recent infant/newborn experience. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States, have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and have their own reliable vehicle for transportation to and from work. Current CPR/First Aid certification is required, or candidates must be willing to renew prior to starting. Candidates must be up to date on Tdap and Flu vaccinations, comfortable working collaboratively alongside Mom, comfortable being paid via payroll (W-4), and dog and cat friendly. The nanny should be reliable, punctual, warm, engaging, and able to commit consistently to the full four-month position.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal nanny is warm, nurturing, dependable, and confident with infants. The family is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the baby stage and understands infant development, routines, and age-appropriate engagement. They would love someone who is attentive and hands-on throughout the day rather than simply supervising—someone who naturally talks, reads, sings, plays, and engages with the baby while supporting developmental milestones. Because Mom works from home, the nanny should be comfortable with a parent being present while also having the confidence to take ownership of the baby’s care during working hours. Strong communication, reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively are important. The nanny should also understand the temporary nature of the position and be able to commit consistently for the full four months.
