A well-respected law firm in Portland is seeking a highly analytical Attorney to support its litigation team with a focus on research and writing. This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys complex legal research, drafting persuasive briefs and motions, and contributing to case strategy behind the scenes rather than focusing on courtroom appearances.

This attorney will work closely with litigators across a variety of matters, playing a key role in developing legal arguments and supporting all phases of litigation through research and written advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth legal research on substantive and procedural issues
• Draft motions, memoranda of law, briefs, and other substantive filings
• Analyze pleadings, discovery materials, and case records to identify key legal issues
• Assist with trial preparation through research and drafting support
• Collaborate with attorneys to refine legal strategies and arguments
  
  

Qualifications

• J.D. and admission to practice in Maine
• Excellent legal research and writing skills
• Strong academic credentials and analytical ability
• Experience drafting substantive motions or briefs preferred
• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative litigation team
  
  

This position focuses primarily on legal research, writing, and strategic litigation support, with minimal courtroom involvement.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience.
