Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinarian Medical Director to lead our veterinary team and oversee clinical operations at our animal care facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong veterinary expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for animal health and welfare. This role involves providing advanced medical care, guiding veterinary staff, and ensuring the highest standards of animal treatment and client service. The Veterinary Medical Director will play a pivotal role in maintaining clinical excellence, developing protocols, and fostering a compassionate environment for both animals and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical operations, ensuring compliance with veterinary standards and best practices
  • Provide expert medical care for a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, equines, and exotic species
  • Lead case management for complex medical cases, including critical care situations requiring advanced veterinary procedures
  • Supervise and mentor veterinary technicians and support staff to promote professional development
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols, treatment plans, and quality assurance measures
  • Ensure proper animal restraint techniques are used during examinations and procedures
  • Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary terminology and documentation standards
  • Oversee laboratory testing procedures, including sample collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Manage aseptic techniques during surgeries and invasive procedures to prevent infection
  • Coordinate with laboratory personnel for diagnostic testing such as blood work or microbiology studies
  • Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine, particularly in critical care, animal physiology, anatomy, and husbandry practices
  • Promote animal welfare through compassionate pet care, grooming, catheterization procedures, and proper handling techniques
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to animal handling and laboratory environments

Skills

  • Extensive veterinary critical care experience with the ability to handle complex cases confidently
  • Proficiency in animal restraint techniques across various species including dogs and horses
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and husbandry practices
  • Experience in pet grooming, pet care management, and animal husbandry to support comprehensive animal wellness programs
  • Skilled in animal catheterization techniques and aseptic procedures during surgeries or invasive diagnostics
  • Laboratory experience including diagnostic testing interpretation is highly desirable
  • Ability to handle animals safely using humane methods such as dog handling skills and general animal handling expertise
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and clients while explaining medical conditions clearly
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to train staff on best practices in animal care and clinical procedures

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $110,000.00 per year
