The Opportunity:
The Muhammad Ali Center (MAC) values the critical role that frontline staff play in creating an onsite experience that is accessible and inclusive for all. To support this, we are seeking an energetic, guest-service-oriented person. This person will provide an excellent service to the guest admission and retail experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This role will have no supervisory responsibilities.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Greet and warmly welcome guests, creating an exceptional first impression of the Muhammad Ali Center.
- Process admissions, memberships, and ticket sales accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Assist guests with merchandise selections, purchases, exchanges, and general retail inquiries in the Museum Store.
- Provide accurate information about exhibits, programs, events, memberships, museum policies, and local attractions.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by responding promptly and professionally to guest questions in person, by telephone, and via email.
- Operate point-of-sale equipment and software accurately, including cash handling, balancing transactions, and following established procedures.
- Assist with merchandise receiving, pricing, stocking, visual merchandising, and inventory maintenance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting appearance throughout the admissions area and Museum Store, including stocking displays, dusting, straightening merchandise, and vacuuming as needed.
- Support daily store operations and sales initiatives to achieve department goals.
- Identify opportunities to promote memberships, retail products, and special events that enhance the guest experience.
- Provides feedback to management regarding guest experiences, merchandise trends, and opportunities to improve operations.
- Work collaboratively with staff across all departments to ensure seamless and positive visitor experiences.
- Follow all Center policies and procedures while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for guests and fellow team members.
- Perform opening, closing, and other operational duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous customer service experience in retail, hospitality, museums, attractions, tourism, or a related field preferred.
- Eligible to work for any employer in the United States
- Interested applicants must be available to work Wednesday – Sunday; additional hours if needed, evening (for special events), and some holidays.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Friendly, professional demeanor with a passion for providing exceptional guest service.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling cash, tickets, and merchandise transactions.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Flexible schedule, including availability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Interest in the Muhammad Ali Center's mission and a willingness to learn about its exhibits, programs, and offerings.
Job Type: Part-Time [Non-Exempt]
- Part Time 2-3 days per week up to 25 hours (schedule may vary)

- Includes mandatory weekends
Physical Requirements:
This role operates within a multi-level facility and requires the ability to navigate the space and assist with exhibit and display setup as needed. The Muhammad Ali Center is ADA compliant and provides reasonable accommodations in accordance with applicable laws.

- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
