PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
The Moth’s Production Department oversees our StorySLAM program, produces our NYC StorySLAM series, as well as our Mainstage series across the United States (and a few internationally). The team works closely with the Artistic, Marketing, Development, and Finance departments to bring our live events to life.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Moth’s Production team is hiring two interns for a six month period, beginning Monday, February 2nd. We are looking for applicants with a strong work ethic, a desire to learn new skills, and a passion for stories and community building through storytelling.
Applicants must be able to minimally commit to a six-month session. Internships are 32 hours per week, 4 days a week, and take place at our New York City headquarters during office hours. The Moth is currently operating on a hybrid schedule, remote and in-office (Mon-Fri, 10AM-6PM) with the expectation of event assistance in the evening.
The Moth provides an hourly rate of $16.50/hour and a $20/month transportation stipend.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Live Event Production
- Assist in the production of our NYC Mainstage, StorySLAM and GrandSLAM live events.
- Assist in approximately two to four NYC events per month.
- Prepare and transport all StorySLAM materials and pack the production kit prior to each event.
- Upload and organize all post-production materials for our database and filing system.
- Produce 1-2 NYC StorySLAMs!
Production and General Administration
- Proof and assist in the production of promotional emails, website entries, event programs, and ticketing links.
- Research further promotional outlets for all live productions, as assigned.
- Research potential venues in new and existing StorySLAM Markets.
- Support the office with managing phones, The Moth’s info account, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Other research projects, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A love of The Moth’s work and mission.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel; ability to learn CRM database system.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organization and administrative skills.
- Ability to switch between independent and collaborative work.
- Creative, self-sufficient, and proactive thinker; detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in the nonprofit sector and/or the arts preferred.
- Ability to perform tasks that may involve lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods as necessary.
