The Mosaic Project is hiring Program Instructors, Facilitation Fellows, and Camp Manager Fellows for our Fall 2026 Outdoor Project season.


These are full-time residential positions based at camp in Felton, California. Staff participate in a week of training followed by six weeks of programming with 4th and 5th grade students.


Important: Applicants must be available for the entire Fall 2026 season from September 4–October 24, 2026.


About The Mosaic Project:The Mosaic Project is a nonprofit organization based in Oakland, California, working toward a peaceful future by uniting children of diverse backgrounds, providing them with essential community-building skills, and empowering them to become peacemakers.


Our principal program, the Outdoor Project, brings together 4th and 5th grade classes from markedly different communities for a transformative week-long experience in nature. Through experiential social-emotional learning, students build empathy, self-confidence, conflict resolution skills, and meaningful connections across differences. Students learn through shared challenges, engaging "gametivities," honest discussions, and the power of song in an environment where all are welcomed and respected.

Open Positions


Program Instructor: We are seeking dynamic, creative, experienced educators who are passionate about social justice education and creating inclusive communities. Program Instructors facilitate student groups, lead curriculum activities, and serve as mentors to Facilitation Fellows throughout the season. Applicants for the Program Instructor position must be at least 24 years old by the start of the program.


Compensation begins at $700 per week plus room and board during the program. Weekend housing is available if needed. Additional compensation is available for returning Program Instructors and guitarists who lead campfires.


Facilitation Fellow: We are seeking passionate, energetic individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in social-emotional learning, experiential education, classroom management, and facilitation. This position is ideal for college students, recent graduates, aspiring educators, and anyone interested in youth development and community building.


Compensation begins at $600 per week plus room and board during the program. Weekend housing is available if needed. Additional compensation is available for returning staff and guitarists who lead campfires.


Camp Manager Fellow: We are seeking an organized, resourceful individual interested in supporting program operations while contributing to an inclusive and welcoming camp community.


This position provides experience in outdoor education operations, logistics, and program support.


Compensation begins at $600 per week plus room and board during the program. Weekend housing is available if needed. Additional compensation is available for returning staff.
