Job Overview
I am seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to join the legal team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support an attorney in probate law and family law. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, and experience with case management systems. The person hired will play a vital role in managing clients and their case files, billing, filing with the courts, preparing for hearings, discovery, and providing administrative support.
Duties
- Manage and organize legal documents using document management systems like Mycase.
- Draft divorce petitions, custody petitions, discovery, and correspondence.
- Conduct case review and data entry to ensure accuracy and completeness of case files.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, scheduling clients, maintaining case files, billing, maintaining the attorney’s calendar, and managing deadlines.
- Provide executive administrative support including excellent phone etiquette, organizational tasks, and clerical duties.
- Setting up client consultations and maintain effective communication with clients and team members.
Skills
- Experience in a law firm as a paralegal or legal assistant with familiarity in family law and probate law.
- Experience with case management software like Mycase.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Proficiency in proofreading and translations to ensure accuracy of legal materials.
- Ability to handle document review efficiently while maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills including professional phone etiquette.
- This is a supervised position but must be comfortable working with low supervision at times.
- Familiarity with clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and administrative support within a busy law office environment.
- Knowledge of legal billing for court appointments.
- Must speak Spanish.
- Reliable and be able to multitask.
Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
