Role Description The Assistant Controller is a full-time, on-site role based at The Moorings Yacht & Country Club in Vero Beach, FL. This role supports the Chief Financial Officer in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing processes. The Assistant Controller prepares and reviews financial statements, assists with budgeting and forecasting, and helps maintain internal controls and compliance with club policies and relevant regulations. Daily responsibilities include supporting audit activities, analyzing financial data, resolving discrepancies, and collaborating with department leaders to ensure accurate reporting and effective financial management. The role also contributes to process improvement initiatives and provides financial insights that support strategic decision-making for the club.
Qualifications
- Strong accounting and finance skills, including general ledger management, financial reporting, reconciliations, and familiarity with GAAP.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Club POS systems, as well as solid MS Excel skills for analysis, reporting, and data management.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support operational and strategic financial planning.
- Knowledge of internal controls, compliance practices, and audit support in a corporate, hospitality, or club environment.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume environments.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate sound professional judgment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Prior experience in private clubs, hospitality, or leisure services is a plus.
