ENDOSCOPY TECHNICIAN (GI TECH)
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining endoscopy equipment, accessories, and supplies. Assists with patient transport and procedure room preparation.
REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports To: Nursing Staff / Director of Nursing
Direct Reports: None
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Good command of the English language.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, employees, patients, and the general public.
- Must successfully complete a post-offer physical examination.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopy equipment and accessories.
- Maintain knowledge of infection control guidelines, aseptic techniques, and best practices.
- Maintain knowledge of endoscopy equipment and accessories.
- Follow center policies and procedures at all times.
- Report equipment issues and malfunctions to the Director of Nursing.
- Oversee the maintenance of the automatic cleaning system.
- Assist with inventory management and supply ordering.
- Assist with procedure room setup and cleaning.
- Maintain records and documentation as directed by the center.
- Assist with patient transportation as needed.
- Attend seminars, training sessions, and other professional development activities.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Requires extensive mobility, including walking and standing for extended periods.
- Requires occasional pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients and equipment.
- May be exposed to patients with communicable diseases.
- May be exposed to hazardous equipment or agents.
- Exposure to blood and body fluids (Category I).
