Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy is seeking a skilled, dynamic and experienced volleyball coach to oversee the effective administration and growth of all aspects of the varsity volleyball program in addition to other administrative or teaching responsibilities. The Head Volleyball Coach position is not a full-time position unless combined with another administrative or teaching duty at the school.

- Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of volleyball.
- Instruct student-athletes in the safety practices associated with volleyball.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Recruit, train, and supervise assistant varsity and junior varsity coaches in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
- Understand and implement all appropriate rules and regulations according to AHSAA guidelines.
- Work with administrators and faculty to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
- Collaborate with coaches at the JV and Middle School levels to ensure program preparation and consistency.
- Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in athletic programs.
- Monitor and enforce student-athlete eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians, students, other coaches, administrators, and faculty.
- Work with the Director of Athletics to schedule competitions and coordinate travel arrangements.
- Instruct student-athletes in the proper care and use of materials and equipment.
- Oversee the process of ordering, cleaning, repairing, and storing athletic equipment and uniforms.
- Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions in volleyball during away games.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the student handbook.
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
- Demonstrate continued growth and development as a high school coach, and leader of student-athletes.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least three to five years of volleyball coaching experience is required. Experience in an independent school is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Knowledge of current best practices in athletic administration, including compliance with AHSAA regulations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to contribute to another significant teaching/administrative duty at the school, if also applying for faculty/staff position.
