Position Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director (or Manager) of Information Technology to lead the IT function for a dynamic and growing holding company headquartered in Salt Lake City. This individual will play a critical role in developing the IT strategy across a diverse portfolio of operating companies-both existing and newly acquired. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in technology integration, network consolidation, and IT transformation in Private Equity (PE)-backed or high-growth environments.
This role requires a visionary leader who is also willing to roll up their sleeves to assess, improve, and unify technology operations across multiple business units while ensuring scalability for future acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute a forward-looking IT strategy aligned with business objectives across the portfolio.
- Serve as a technology thought partner to the executive leadership team, including evaluating opportunities for innovation and operational improvement.
- Lead due diligence, integration, and transition planning for newly acquired companies from an IT perspective.
Technology Integration & Consolidation
- Lead efforts to evaluate, select, and integrate back-office systems such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, and finance platforms across the enterprise.
- Consolidate disparate network infrastructures and develop a scalable and secure enterprise architecture.
- Design and implement standard IT policies, governance models, and security protocols across all entities.
Merger & Acquisition Support
- Support pre- and post-acquisition activities including:
- IT due diligence
- Technology risk assessments
- Integration roadmaps
- Cost/benefit analyses
- Create repeatable playbooks and frameworks to streamline IT integration during future M&A events.
Vendor & MSP Management
- Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), ensuring high-quality support, cost-effectiveness, and accountability.
- Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to optimize vendor performance.
- Monitor vendor compliance and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
Security, Compliance & Risk Management
- Establish and maintain a robust IT security posture across all entities, aligned with regulatory and industry standards.
- Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Ensure data integrity, compliance with applicable regulations, and protection of sensitive company and client information.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and manage a lean, high-performing IT team (internal or outsourced).
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, agility, and collaboration.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and leadership to team members across all levels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; MBA or relevant master's degree is a plus.
- 8-12 years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a Director or Sr. Manager role.
- Private Equity-backed company experience strongly preferred.
- Proven success leading IT integration for M&A, including technology due diligence and post-acquisition planning.
- Demonstrated experience consolidating systems, infrastructure, and services across multiple entities.
- Experience managing outsourced IT environments and third-party vendors/MSPs.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and IT risk mitigation strategies.
- Ability to travel occasionally to acquired company sites as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud migrations and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Strong Network and Security experience
- Familiarity with common enterprise tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, QuickBooks Enterprise, Vista, NetSuite, Salesforce, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, fluid environments with evolving priorities.
