Staff Accountant (Hybrid - Urbandale, IA)

We are seeking a Staff Accountant on a contract basis to support our Customer’s business needs. This role is hybrid (3 days per week for the first 4 weeks, then up to 1-2 days per week thereafter) in Urbandale, IA.

Responsibilities

• Provide accounting support across functions such as Accounts Receivable, Cash Control, General Ledger, and reconciliations
• Prepare journal entries, payments, billing transactions, and accounting reports
• Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts and related financial records
• Perform variance and trend analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods
• Support monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Coordinate revenue and expense accruals
• Process fund applications, refunds, and payment requests to third parties
• Generate and review administrative and financial reports for stakeholders
• Assist in developing and improving accounting policies, procedures, and processes
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies, SOX controls, GAAP standards, and regulatory requirements
• Verify work and provide guidance to less experienced staff when needed
• Support internal and external audits and reporting requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial operations and reporting
  
  

Skills And Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger processes
• Familiarity with accounting classifications and financial reporting
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under supervision while managing assigned tasks
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and teams
• Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
