The Modern Home Chef, LLC (Contract Position)
The Modern Home Chef, LLC is seeking an experienced Private Chef (Independent Contractor) to prepare fresh, health-focused meals for private clients. You'll work directly with clients to handle grocery shopping, meal preparation, and proper storage, creating a consistent, elevated experience with the freedom to manage your own process and schedule.
About the Role
As a contracted Private Chef, you ll bring your culinary skill and professionalism into clients' homes to craft meals that support their lifestyle and dietary preferences. Menus, invoicing, and client communication are handled by The Modern Home Chef, LLC; your focus will be culinary execution and client experience.
Responsibilities

Source and purchase groceries based on the provided menus

Prepare, portion, and store meals safely in clients' kitchens

Label and provide reheating or storage instructions

Maintain high sanitation and food-safety standards
- Communicate directly with clients regarding on-site needs
Qualifications
Must have Personal or Private Chef experience. Working in fine-dining, private households, or high-end catering is also preferred.

Nutrition Background through accredited schooling is required.

Confident cooking for various dietary needs (gluten-free, low-FODMAP, AIP, vegan, paleo, macro-friendly, etc.)

Experience cooking diverse ethnic cuisines

Highly organized and efficient, capable of executing multiple meals in one session

Professional, discreet, and respectful in private home settings

Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred (5-7 years)
- Valid Food Handler s Certification required
Must provide your own vehicle, smartphone, and kitchen tools
Contract Details
Type: 1099 Independent Contractor

Engagement: Per-client / per-session basis (approx. 10 hours weekly)

Contract Term: Scheduling month-to-month. Quarterly contract review.

Compensation: Contractors are compensated on a per-session basis, $125 half-day, $160 3/4 day, or $200 full-day, depending on experience and session scope

Payout: Weekly payout for completed sessions

Schedule: Flexible (Sunday-Thursday availability preferred)
- Reimbursements: Contractors purchase groceries directly and are reimbursed for food costs upon submission of receipts
Contractors operate as independent professionals and are responsible for their own insurance, business expenses, and tax obligations.
Paid Onboarding
Qualified contractors may be invited to complete a paid onboarding session to review workflow and client expectations. This session is compensated at a flat project rate and does not constitute employment or training.
