Veterinary Technician

The Mobile Vet House Calls for Pets
Eugene, OR Full Time
POSTED ON 7/31/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/27/2026

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our mobile veterinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and handling and be able to provide high-quality support in a mobile veterinary setting.

This position has the potential to grow beyond traditional veterinary technician responsibilities. We are looking for someone who is interested in developing into an Operations Manager or Practice Manager role and becoming an integral part of the long-term growth of the business.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the right candidate may gradually take on duties related to scheduling and routing, inventory management, marketing, administrative projects, workflow development, and other tasks associated with running a growing veterinary practice.

Compensation will increase as responsibilities increase. A candidate who already has substantial veterinary management, operations, marketing, or business experience will be compensated appropriately for those qualifications immediately upon hire.

The candidate must also be comfortable driving a Sprinter van. Our mobile veterinary unit is a Wag’n Tails Supreme WellPet model.

Duties

  • Assist the veterinarian during examinations and procedures, including animal handling and restraint.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostics, including blood collection and radiographs.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and behavior during procedures and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient care.
  • Educate pet owners regarding animal care, medications, and preventive health recommendations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the mobile veterinary unit.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical and minor procedures.
  • Assist with dental cleanings and procedures.
  • Safely drive and help maintain the mobile veterinary unit.
  • Assist with inventory tracking, ordering, and organization.
  • Help improve scheduling, routing, and daily operational efficiency.
  • Participate in marketing, client communication, and practice-growth projects as appropriate.
  • Assist with the development of policies, systems, and workflows as the practice grows.
  • Help train future employees or interns in animal care and practice procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous veterinary technician experience is preferred.
  • Veterinary dentistry experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry.
  • Experience with animal restraint, catheter placement, blood collection, and intubation is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of veterinary laboratory procedures and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
  • Ability to handle dogs of varying breeds, sizes, and temperaments safely.
  • Valid driver’s license and comfort driving a large Sprinter van.
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Interest in learning the operational and business-management aspects of a veterinary practice.
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, solve problems, and take ownership of responsibilities.

Growth Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to be more than a traditional veterinary technician. The ideal candidate will be interested in helping build and shape the systems of a growing mobile veterinary practice.

Responsibilities and compensation may expand over time as the employee demonstrates the ability to manage areas such as operations, routing, scheduling, inventory, marketing, workflow development, and staff coordination. Candidates who already possess these skills may be hired directly into a more advanced and appropriately compensated role.
