Associate Attorney

Position Overview: 

Seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 0-3 years of legal experience to work in a unique small firm concentrating in Estate Planning, Probate and Administration, Real Estate and Corporate Law. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and capable of managing matters independently while also collaborating with senior attorneys and staff. 

Responsibilities: 

• Draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care proxies, and Medicaid planning documents
• Prepare and file pleadings and documents for Surrogate’s Court matters including probate, administration, and accountings
• Handle real estate transactions from contract to closing, including drafting and reviewing of contracts, title and mortgage financing review, and attendance at closings 
• Draft agreements, minutes and formation documents for corporate clients  
• Court appearances as required in Surrogate’s Court and other civil matters 
• Extensive client contact, communication and support
• Negotiate and coordinate with attorneys, other professionals, financial institutions, and government agencies

Qualifications: 

• J.D. from an accredited law school 
• Bar admission in the state of New York
• Strong drafting, communication, and organizational skills 
• Manage deadlines and maintain organized case files 
• Ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly and proficiently
• Spanish/French language fluency a plus

Compensation & Benefits: 

• Competitive salary commensurate with experience and skill ($80,000-$120,000)
