GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
As the Sales Support Specialist, you will assist in the maintenance of retail merchandise stock by unpacking, organizing and maintaining merchandise on the selling floor and in stock rooms. You will contribute to store and stock maintenance by providing customer service on the selling floor that exceeds the customer’s expectations and assists the team in achieving sales goals. You will participate in zone coverage of the selling floor and are responsible for a specific area or category of business. Some late nights and Saturdays and Sundays are required.

Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.

You will contribute to store and stock maintenance by providing customer service on the selling floor that exceeds the customer’s expectations and assists the team in achieving sales goals. You will participate in zone coverage of the selling floor and are responsible for a specific area or category of business. Some late nights and Saturdays and Sundays are required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Assists with maintenance of stock by unpacking new shipments, maintains proper stockroom order and controls, keeps selling floor filled with stock at all times, observes inventory control procedures, processes price changes, assists with gift wrapping, gift boxing, or packaging for shipment.
- Assists with maintenance of store and stock by cleaning, straightening, requisitioning merchandise, maintaining supplies, ticketing, and restocking.
- Ensures coverage of selling floor by spending the major portion of work time on the selling floor; answers customer questions, escorts customers to merchandise, directs customers to sales staff. Performs store maintenance in all areas of the store; participates in loss prevention efforts
- Greets or acknowledges all customers entering the store, approaching sales location, or on the phone to learn customer’s shopping purpose
- Engages customer in sales oriented conversations, to sell and recommend products. In collaboration with Sales specialists, closes sales by through the use of product knowledge and lead customers to approriate registers.
- Occasionally assigned to a register when needed, using current selling script; follows current cash, check and credit procedures
- Observes schedule, maintains good attendance and punctuality
- Participates in annual inventory process.
- Processes payment at register using current selling script; follows current cash, check, and credit procedures
- Performs customer returns and exchanges
- Provides coverage of selling floor when not on register; answers customer questions, escorts customers to merchandise, performs shop maintenance in area adjacent to selling counter, participates in loss prevention efforts
- Observes schedule, maintains good attendance and punctuality
- Participates in annual inventory process
- Other related duties as assigned
- Background or interest in Art or Art History preferred
- Post-Secondary Education preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Sales oriented
- Outgoing, good interpersonal and communication skills required
- Ability to learn requirements of the job such as register functions, product information, museum collections and relatedness, location of merchandise, etc.
- Knowledge of art history, museums, and NYC cultural institutions preferred
- Enjoys working in a fast paced, high volume environment
- Pay Rate: $26.98 / Hourly
