A fantastic, and fast growing client of ours is seeking a sharp, detail-oriented Loan Officer Assistant who enjoys digging into loan files, understands mortgage guidelines, and knows how to set loans up for success before they ever reach underwriting.
Role Overview
This position sits at the critical intersection of sales and underwriting. You’ll review new loan applications, collect and validate documentation, calculate income, organize loan files, and present a clear, informed opinion of each file to the Loan Officer.

Key Responsibilities
- Take complete mortgage applications over the phone with borrowers
- Review online loan applications for accuracy and completeness
- Interpret conventional, FHA, VA, and other mortgage guidelines to determine required documentation
- Proactively request, collect, and follow up on borrower documentation
- Cross-reference income, assets, liabilities, and credit against the loan application
- Accurately calculate income (W-2, self-employed, variable income, etc.)
- Identify red flags, missing items, and guideline concerns early in the process
- Organize loan files clearly and logically for processing and underwriting
- Prepare and present a concise opinion of the loan file to the Loan Officer
- Maintain strong communication with borrowers, Loan Officers, and internal teams to keep files moving efficiently
Qualifications
- Prior experience in mortgage underwriting, setup, loan analysis, or processing
- Strong understanding of mortgage guidelines and documentation requirements
- Comfortable taking loan applications over the phone
- Proven experience calculating borrower income and reviewing supporting documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and file organization skills
- Ability to identify issues early and communicate them clearly
- Strong time management and follow-through
- Tech-savvy, with experience using loan origination systems and document management platforms
- Bilingual high preferred
