Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive mental health services, including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and case management. This role involves working with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, in outpatient settings. The counselor will utilize evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, and behavioral management techniques to support clients' mental health and overall well-being. Experience with telehealth platforms, medical documentation, and HIPAA compliance is essential to ensure quality care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, and other modalities such as art or dance therapy.
- Provide individual, group, family, and pediatric counseling tailored to clients’ needs.
- Manage crisis situations through crisis management strategies and crisis intervention techniques.
- Document clinical notes accurately in medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Utilize research and data collection methods to monitor treatment outcomes and improve service delivery.
- Engage in intake procedures for new clients and conduct follow-up assessments regularly.
- Work with clients experiencing PTSD, addiction issues, grief, chronic pain, or developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder.
- Collaborate with other professionals in multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain ongoing professional development through training in ICD coding, CPT coding, psychopharmacology, special education strategies, and other relevant areas.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling Psychology or related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid licensure or certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent credential preferred. Associates are encouraged to apply!
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and trauma-informed care.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems for diagnostic evaluation and billing purposes.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children with special needs, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
- Telehealth experience is highly desirable for remote service delivery capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage clients effectively while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA regulations.
