Responsibilities
- Administer intravenous (IV) infusions, medications, and fluids accurately following physician orders and established protocols.
- Assess patient conditions through vital signs, physical examinations, and comprehensive evaluations to determine appropriate infusion plans.
- Educate patients and their families about infusion procedures, medication effects, and potential side effects to promote understanding and compliance.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR), ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
- Monitor patients continuously during infusions for adverse reactions or complications, responding swiftly with appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacists, and case managers to coordinate care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety during all procedures.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license with current registration in New Jersey.
- Proven experience in infusion therapy, including IV insertion, and medication administration.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology related to infusion treatments.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations such as geriatrics, pediatrics, or individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation.
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to recognize adverse reactions promptly and respond effectively.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); additional certifications such as ACLS are advantageous.
