Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with intake processes including vital signs and medical history documentation
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and assist the practitioner during patient examinations and procedures such as phlebotomy, EKG exams, or medication administration
- Manage electronic health records (eClinicalWorks), ensuring accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, ICD coding, and medical terminology
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as specimen collection (phlebotomy), processing lab orders, and maintaining inventory of supplies
- Support administrative functions including appointment scheduling, patient follow-up calls, insurance verification, and maintaining medical documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols including basic life support (BLS), infection control standards, and clinic requirements
Skills
- Proven experience in medical office settings with knowledge of EMR/EHR systems and medical records management (eClinicalWorks)
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding practices
- Hands-on experience with clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, medication administration, EKG exams or other diagnostic techniques
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately in a clinical setting
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation and data entry
