Residential Care Director-The Meadows-Old Town, Maine

The Meadows is a small 16 bed residential care facility in Old Town, Maine that offers a comfortable, convenient and gracious assisted living environment and support services promoting maximum independence for its residents. Resident services include individual care planning, assistance with activities of daily living, nutritious meals, assistance in securing medical attention, provision for home health and other services, arranging social and leisure activities, and more.

We are seeking a Residential Care Director (RCD) to join our dedicated staff at the Meadows in Old Town. This is a part-time position based on 30 hours per week.

Position Summary

The Resident Care Director (RCD) is responsible for developing and maintaining a successful residential care living program for residents of The Meadows and manages all direct care staff. They must demonstrate mature judgement and compassion in regard for the best interest of the residents. The RCD assists the Administrator in the day-to-day operation of the facility and mandated compliance with regulations and laws pertaining to residential care.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Development, Gerontology, Nursing or directly related fields is preferred. This can be satisfied with at least two years’ experience working directly with older persons in long term care community or residential programs which demonstrates an understanding of and compliance with residents' rights.

· Must hold a Certified Residential Medication Aide Certificate (CRMA).

· Must be familiar with state regulations and fire regulations, as well as boarding home policies and procedures.

· One year of supervisory experience required: two or more years preferred.

· Must be able to pass a background check and maintain a record that is free from criminal convictions for crimes against persons, including, without limitation, theft, abuse, neglect or sexual misconduct.

· Must pass a State of Maine background check as required by DHHS.

· Proficient in computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook and use of the internet.

· Experience using MDS software a plus.

Responsibilities Include:

· In conjunction with the Administrator, hire, supervise, train and evaluate the direct care and service staff.

· Assure full staffing at all times and develop a pool of on-call staff.

· Explain The Meadows residential care living program, service packages and payment plans to potential residents and their families.

· In conjunction with the Administrator, determine physical, mental and financial eligibility for residents.

· Develop and revise comprehensive resident care/service plans consistent with the needs and wishes of the residents and their family.

· In conjunction with the Administrator, determine when residents are no longer appropriate for The Meadows residence and arrange for safe and adequate alternatives.

· Arrange transportation for residents through Penquis CAP or other providers as needed.

· Cover open shifts when necessary.

· On call every other week to assist staff with resident, staff or facility non-routine/emergency issues.

· With residents and/or family, develop and implement a comprehensive resident care/service plan consistent with the needs and wishes of the resident.

· Monitor resident satisfaction with services

· Periodically re-evaluate residents' level of need; revise service plans as appropriate.

· When requested by residents, make referral for services, set up appointments and apply for benefits.

Additionally, as a term of employment, The Resident Care Director and the Administrator rotate bi-weekly as on call for emergencies that may arise. This includes 24-hour availability for one week from Monday 7:00 AM to the following Monday at 7:00 AM and may sometimes require shift coverage left vacant because of emergencies.
