Looking for DAY & EVENING Full Time and Part time!
Provides general nursing care to patients in nursing home or similar health care facility by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques
Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patient
Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of resident, observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions in nurse’s note; notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents
Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and
documents in nurse’s note on same
Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol, documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
Makes beds, bathes and feeds patients and participates in department or unit quality improvement activities as needed
Administers orders, charts and observes for side effects of medication (Exception: IV Push Medication given by RN only) Completes charting as soon as the medication is administered
Counts all controlled substances at start of shift and at the end of shift with on coming or off going nurse
Assumes all responsibilities for reordering all medication
Checking on automatic stop drugs and reports any adverse side effects to the charge nurse.
Maintains medication room and carts in a clean and orderly fashion
Organizes and assigns nursing assistant to specific job related to resident care and ensures completeness
Communicates all changes in resident condition or needs to the RNACs to ensure that current information is updated prior to Care Conference
Ensures that all pertinent medical information needed to care for resident is located on the resident’s Acute Care Plan.
Accurately and objectively documents all pertinent resident information in the clinical record following the facilities policies and procedures regarding documentation
Answers call lights of residents and attends to their needs
Participates and updates residents care plans as required
Is held responsible or any errors in administration, ordering or charting of medication or failure to do any of the necessary procedures involved in the administration of the medication.
Maintains confidentiality of residents at all times
Fulfills in-service requirements
Assists physicians as required
Is involved in the restraint committee work
Assists in the orientation of all new employees
Communicates with the nursing staff and wound nurse any concerns regarding residents’ skin issues
Supervises Certified Nursing Assistants in the provision of direct resident care.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an approved school of nursing; current PA license to practice as a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse. A minimum of one year’s experience in related nursing positions is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations and consistently and accurately calculate drug dosages
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must maintain a current, valid license as a Registered or practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
