Job Summary
Job Opportunity: Subject Matter Expert, Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Processing
Compensation: $90K - $190K, depending on position and experience
Location: Onsite in Santa Fe, New Mexico
Contract Status/Length: Contingent upon award, 6-12 months, with opportunity to extend.
TMG is looking for subject matter experts to support the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Processing Office in Santa Fe, NM. The Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office is responsible for compensating impacted individuals and entities who had damages from the Hermit’s Peak and Calf Canyon fires in New Mexico. The Claims Office is seeking subject matter experts to advise claims reviewers on the appropriate amount of compensation in specialized areas.
TMG is seeking applicants with subject matter expertise in the following job titles: Forensic Accountant; Reforestation Specialist; Risk Reduction Specialist; Forestry Specialist; Fraud Specialist; Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist; and an Adobe Construction Specialist. Candidates can be from anywhere in the U.S., but they must be willing to relocate or deploy to New Mexico. The role involves a mix of office-based, remote, and field work as per project needs.
Essential Functions
- Policy Interpretation: Ability to understand and interpret complex federal policy language, including relevant statutes, regulations, policies, guidance, and directions.
- Technical Knowledge: Disaster-related knowledge and background to accurately assess losses, damages, repairs, and replacement costs in line with subject matter areas of expertise.
- Clear and Effective Communication: Customer service, excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge and ability to explain policy and regulations to claimants, FEMA staff, and other stakeholders.
- Use of Technology: Proficiency in using claims management software, databases, and other technology tools that facilitate claim processing, documentation, and communication.
- SME Reports: Must be proficient and have a high degree of knowledge on how to accurately build SME reports which provide adequate compensation for claimants to rebuild and recover. Must be proficient in assessing property and fire related and flood-related, and other compensable damages accurately, which involves understanding the extent of damage, the required repairs, required documentation, and associated costs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field & any industry-standard certification required for specific SME type
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the SME field of practice
