TMG is supporting the Hermits Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office, which is responsible for compensating individuals and communities impacted by the wildfire and supporting long-term recovery.
Position Summary
TMG is seeking experienced Forestry Specialists with Rocky Mountain terrain expertise to support post-wildfire recovery, land stabilization, and long-term risk reduction.
This role focuses on forest health, burn severity impacts, erosion risk, watershed stability, and ecosystem recovery in steep and complex terrain. The ideal candidate brings deep field experience in wildfire-affected landscapes and understands how to translate that expertise into actionable mitigation and recovery recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field-based forestry assessments in post-wildfire, mountainous environments
- Evaluate burn severity, vegetation loss, soil stability, and watershed impacts
- Identify risks related to erosion, debris flow, flooding, and slope instability
- Develop and recommend site-specific mitigation strategies, including reforestation, erosion control, and land stabilization
- Support integration of forestry findings into claims evaluation and recovery planning
- Interpret and apply federal and state environmental and land management guidance
- Collaborate with engineers, hydrologists, environmental specialists, and claims personnel
- Prepare technical reports, field documentation, and mitigation recommendations
- Support compliance with environmental requirements and best management practices
- Conduct field inspections in rugged terrain and variable weather conditions
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental science, or related field
- 5 to 10 years of experience in forestry, wildfire recovery, or land management in mountainous terrain
- Direct experience with post-wildfire environments, including burn scar analysis and recovery planning
- Strong understanding of Rocky Mountain ecosystems and terrain challenges
- Experience with erosion control, watershed protection, and land stabilization techniques
- Ability to conduct fieldwork in steep, remote, and physically demanding environments
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
Preferred
- Experience with federal agencies such as U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, or FEMA
- Familiarity with Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) or similar programs
- Knowledge of environmental compliance frameworks including NEPA
- GIS experience for mapping and analysis
- Professional certifications such as Registered Forester or Certified Forester
- Experience supporting federal contracts or disaster recovery operations
Pay: $65.00 - $85.00 per hour
