What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Operations Manager - DCD position at The McAlear Group?
Direct and manage all plant/facility operations with overall responsibilities for production, delivery of product, security, and maintenance of all local assets.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Have a strong commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
- Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to meet customers’ expectations regarding on-time delivery and quality of the product.
- Collaborate directly with all team members to increase production utilizing plant capital assets.
- Minimize all unnecessary costs associated with plant operations such as scrap, utilities, dunnage, factory, and office supplies.
- Monitor operations and implement corrective actions to achieve desired results.
- Develop plant leadership through coaching utilizing past experiences, literature lectures, or any other means available to ensure a positive culture.
- Manage daily plant operations through direct interaction with plant operational leadership, HR Department, Purchasing Department, Safety Manager, and the Maintenance team.
- Monitor the POPS production system daily to ensure customer demand is being met.
- Helps establish Key Performance Indicators (KIP) for the facility based upon demand.
- Report key measurables on a weekly basis to the COO. Take appropriate corrective action measures to bring any KPI that is not meeting expectations back in line.
- Report critical issues to the appropriate departments in a timely manner. (Daily)
- Assist with creating and maintaining annual budgets for the facility.
- Work directly with the HR department in the recruitment and development of all team members.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Physically assist the manufacturing team to meet demand when shorthanded.
- Participate in taking physical inventories.
- Assist the Purchasing department with procuring key items such as material handling equipment or other materials needed to help meet plant objectives.
- Talk directly with customers to help build relationships.
- Be willing to travel to company sales centers, trade shows or other locations if needed.
- Drive the company vehicles to make deliveries to customers or company locations.
- Develop relationships with key individuals outside the company such as freight reps, truck drivers, material suppliers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Physical ability to do work requires lifting, twisting, bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, walking, and standing.
- Physical ability to do work requires lifting/pulling/carrying weights ranging from 1 to 50 lbs.
- Able to work in a high-pressure, demanding environment.
COMPETENCY, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- General knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
- General understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- General understanding of Industrial Engineering principles regarding work measurement, ergonomics, plant layouts, and cost accounting
- Ability to formulate and meet deadlines regarding production schedules, projects, and goals.
- Ability to train and coach the production team members to desired results and expectations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to all levels of the organization
- Ability to formulate spreadsheets, presentations, etc. utilizing computer software.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of five years working in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering related curriculum.
- Previous experience of being in the lead managerial role of a production or warehouse facility.
- Experience or in-depth knowledge of metallurgical principles.
