Role Description
Matus Law Group is pleased to announce its Summer Internship Program for students interested in law, advocacy, and helping families plan for the future. This program provides hands-on experience in estate planning, special needs planning, legal research, and client advocacy. We will select three interns, one from each education level, for an eight-week immersive internship.

Program Overview
High School Internship (1 position) : An introductory experience for students exploring the legal field.
Focus: Professional skills, legal basics, special needs advocacy, office experience.
College Internship (1 position): For undergraduates considering law school or public service.
Focus: Case support, research assistance, client interaction observation, project work.
Law School Internship (1 position): Ideal for students seeking substantive legal experience.
Focus: Legal research, drafting, estate planning documents, client advocacy, attorney mentorship.
Application Requirements (All Applicants)
Applicants must submit a complete application package, including the following components:
1. Resume
2. Personal Statement (300–500 words): Why are you interested in the legal profession and what do you hope to learn from an internship at Matus Law Group?
3. References:
- High School: teacher or guidance counselor

- Law School: professor or lawyer

Step 1 - Submission

Step 2 – Initial Review
- Applications will be reviewed for completeness, writing quality, and interest in the mission of Matus Law Group.
Step 3 – Interview
Selected applicants will be invited to a 20–30 minute Zoom interview, including:
- Professional interests
- Understanding of estate planning
- Discussion of personal statement
- Q&A about the program
Step 4 – Final Selection
Offers will be extended via email. All interns must confirm acceptance within 5 days.
4. Internship Structure
- Duration: 8 weeks (June–August; exact dates flexible based on school calendars)
- Hours: 20-30 hours per week (High School & College) | 40 hours per week (Law School)
5. Program Components
Educational Modules
All interns participate in weekly learning sessions, such as:
- Intro to Estate Planning
- Special Needs Trusts
- Guardianship
- Legal Ethics & Client Confidentiality
- Drafting fundamentals (law students)
Hands-On Work
Assignments vary by educational level but may include:
- Preparing client folders

Each intern is paired with a supervising attorney or staff member who provides:
