Chip Line Operator - 2nd shift

The Chip Line Operator position is responsible for setting up, adjusting, cleaning and operating our Chip Line tunnel, depositor, strip cutter/disc cutter and related equipment including changeovers, and monitoring product quality, and output efficiency.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sets-up (changeover and cleans) line equipment including - sifter, belt adjustments, temps/speed, cooling tunnel, blades/cutters to package products within quality standards and according to procedures.
  • Operate line equipment from coatings depositor into cooling tunnel to chopper blades for proper thickness.
  • Move product to storage areas and move in pallets of supplies as needed.
  • Perform and document quality checks to include temperature, fill weight, production reports, chart recorders, metal detector, and take batch samples for quality and lab. 
  • Troubleshoots and/or identifies equipment failures or problems. Perform minor troubleshooting and part replacement and maintenance of packaging and related equipment.
  • Completes necessary paperwork and/or data entry for production reports, product disposition forms, process control and depositor sheets, housekeeping checklists.
  • Takes necessary samples for QC and Lab testing as needed.
  • Perform and document daily tank inventory on the 6th floor. Refill the 6th floor (41205) bulk chocolate liquor tank as needed.
  • Reports any need for equipment repair or maintenance.
  • Adheres to all Plant Safety, Food Safety, GMP, including sanitary requirements and Standardized Work procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent diploma (GED/HSED) 
  • Experience working in a production environment 3 years.  Food, beverage, or drug manufacturing preferred but not required.   Similar line experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to the production process including conversion of weight and volume in the metric system.
  • Detailed oriented nature and precision is critical to ensure products adhere to designated quality and standards. 
  • Able to handle multiple tasks with capability of prioritizing and planning work activities.
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to interact with various levels of staff.
  • Able to maintain a clean work environment in accordance with SOPs and GMPs.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear, and/or use fingers and hands to handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and/or sit and may occasionally be required to reach above shoulders, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee will continuously lift, push, or move approximately 35 pounds.
