Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the full-cycle accounting process across multiple entities. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and delivering timely financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and eager to grow within a dynamic accounting environment.
This is a hybrid position in our Bedford, NH office. Candidates will be asked to provide three professional references in the final stages of the interview process.
Responsibilities:
- Manage AP automation system, including reviewing, approving, and coding invoices for processing
- Oversee corporate credit cards, including downloading transactions from bank portal, GL coding, and posting to the accounting system
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including accrual entries and maintenance of depreciation and amortization schedules
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly to ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger
- Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Perform monthly P&L variance analysis against budget and prior periods, identifying key drivers
- Assist with preparation for external audits, including gathering and organizing required documentation
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Assist with implementation and transition of financial systems and process improvements
- Develop and document standard operating procedures to strengthen internal controls
- Process weekly home warranties and monthly buyouts
- Provide documentation to tax accountants for preparation of income tax returns across multiple entities
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed
Required Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting or related experience
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, preferred
- Actively pursuing or planning to pursue CPA or CMA certification
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and SharePoint (Advanced in Excel formulas such as pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage priorities with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively via phone, video and in-person
- Ability to occasionally move about the office to access files, equipment, and meeting spaces
- Ability to lift and carry light items (up to 10-15 lbs), such as files or office supplies
- Visual ability to review detailed financial data and work on a computer screen for extended periods of time
