The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Management Services Department, Office Services Unit is seeking candidates for the position of Driver/Messenger.
The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, have excellent customer service and communication skills, be punctual, and enjoy working with people.

Plans most efficient delivery route.
Operates Commission car, van, or pick-up truck to drive regular, assigned delivery route. Makes 1-2 runs per day, possibly with different routes on alternate days. Make special runs when necessary.
Picks-up and delivers mail and other items at U.S. Post Office and Commission facilities.
Cleans and washes vehicles. Fills vehicles with gas and oil. Takes vehicles to garage for repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections. Provides care and coordinates maintenance of Headquarters vehicles.
Maintains records (e.g., auto mileage, gas and oil, delivery log).
Folds and inserts materials into envelopes. Wraps items in packages. Operates postage machine, and puts correct postage on letters and packages.
May operate photocopier to make copies of documents upon request. Collates and staples copies.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Some knowledge of:
(1) Commission organization; * (2) Commission Policies and procedures; * (3) geography of Prince George’s County, Maryland (4) office practices (5) Obey traffic laws.
Skill in operation of:
(1) automobile, light truck, (2) photocopier, (3) postage machine, (4) hand truck.
Ability to:
(1) follow directions, (2) read routine reports and correspondence, (3) write simple records; (4) write legibly, (5) work well with others; (6) lift up to 50 pounds, (7) read and interpret street maps, (8) resolve minor mechanical emergencies involving flat tires and low oil.
Required
Possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
Is 18 years old or older
2-3 years of relevant work experience that indicates some knowledge of general delivery practices, area street names, and locations.
Ability to read, write, and perform simple arithmetic and follow simple oral and written instructions.
Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record or the ability to acquire one.
Must successfully complete M-NCPPC Defensive Driving certification.
Preferred
Expected to become familiar with M-NCPPC organization, policies and procedures and practices.
Be proficient in the geography of the Maryland and Washington DC metropolitan area.
Be willing to learn how to operate a photocopier and postage machine, as well as a light truck.
Will be exposed to weather and traffic hazards.
Work hours
Schedule will consist of no more than 35 hours per week.
Weekdays 7:30 am – 3:00 pm
Working Conditions/Environment.
Outdoor delivery for at least 5 hours daily.
May work in inclement weather conditions.
Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check.
This position is seasonal/part-time and does not include a benefits package.
