Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Real Estate Paralegal to support
attorneys across a wide range of real estate transactions, including commercial and
residential acquisitions, sales, financing, leasing, and title matters. The ideal candidate
is proactive, highly organized, and possesses strong technical expertise in handling
complex transactions involving institutional lenders, private lenders, title insurance, and
leasing documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with all phases of real estate transactions, including due
diligence, contract management, title review, and closings.
- Draft, review, and manage purchase and sale agreements, loan documents,
leases, easements, and related transactional documents.
- Conduct and summarize title and survey reviews; coordinate resolution of title
and survey issues with title companies, surveyors, and attorneys.
- Prepare closing checklists, timelines, and transaction summaries for all parties
involved.
- Coordinate with title companies for the issuance of title commitments, policies,
endorsements, and final title policies.
- Manage all aspects of closing processes for purchases, sales, and loan
transactions, including preparing closing binders, escrow letters, disbursement
authorizations, and post-closing documentation.
- Support lender representation by preparing loan packages, searches and filings,
certificates, subordination agreements, and other loan-related documentation.
- Draft and assist with negotiating commercial and residential lease agreements,
amendments, and related documents.
- Communicate with clients, lenders, brokers, title agents, and opposing counsel to
ensure smooth transaction flow.
- Maintain organized and comprehensive transaction files and databases.
- Perform real estate due diligence, including entity formation, corporate authority
document preparation, zoning due diligence, and lien searches.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program
preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a real estate paralegal handling commercial
and residential transactions.
- Strong knowledge of real estate law, title insurance practices, escrow
procedures, and loan closings.
- Experience representing institutional lenders, private lenders, buyers, sellers,
and landlords/tenants.
- Proficiency in reviewing, summarizing, and resolving title and survey matters.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex
transactions simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally
with clients, title companies, lenders, and attorneys.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with title software (e.g., SoftPro,
RamQuest) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with title insurance underwriting procedures.
- Ability to independently manage closings from inception to post-closing.
- Experience with multifamily, industrial, retail, and mixed-use transactions is highly desirable.
