Produce - Produce Clerk

Produce clerks are responsible for preparing, packaging, displaying, pricing, and merchandising any and all fresh produce and other items maintained within the department. Produce clerks inform customers about fresh produce and other produce items.

The Market in the Square is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our Produce department as a Produce Clerk. What We Offer: - Competitive pay - Opportunities for growth and advancement - A supportive and friendly work environment - Employee discounts What We’re Looking For: - Previous Produce experience is preferred - Attention to detail and commitment to quality - Reliable and dependable; able to work a flexible schedule - Ensures accurate labeling and pricing - Passion to provide friendly and prompt customer service Responsibilities: - Stocks, rotates, fills, faces products and displays - Ensures cleanliness of produce aisles, storage areas, and work areas; including, but not limited to: cleaning/organization of shelves, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, sweeping/mopping, etc - Performs tasks such as, but not limited to: loading / unloading trucks, inspecting deliveries, trimming, watering, packaging, weighing, labeling and merchandising of products to ensure fresh, high quality offerings - Answers questions from customers about produce products in a professional manner - Proactively notifies manager when product levels are low or empty - Ensures all equipment is in working order and safe; alerts management when safety or cleanliness is a concern - Safely operating and using equipment such as, but not limited to, knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, carts, and labeling machines KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Requires strong attention to detail - Ability to read, write and count - Excellent communication skills in order to ensure excellent customer service - Outgoing, friendly, neat and professional - Able to provide and receive constructive feedback - Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures - Ability to solve practical problems - Ability to perform repetitious activities - Ability to operate equipment; including, but not limited to, scales and wrappers Physical Requirements: - Requires standing, walking, bending, climbing throughout the entire workday - The ability to lift, stack, and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs - Weekend and holiday work will be required; flexible hours EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE - Previous experience working in a Produce Department preferred but not necessary

Salary : $16 - $18
