Due to MSG's continued growth, we’re expanding our Transportation Engineering services in Pennsylvania and developing a dedicated Structures group within our Hermitage, Cranberry, and Waynesburg offices. We are seeking a Structure/Bridge Practice Leader to guide bridge and structural engineering efforts, lead project delivery, and develop technical talent. This role offers an opportunity to shape a growing practice and provide leadership on a variety of structural transportation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation-related structures.
- Prepare structural calculations, design reports, load ratings, design plans, and specifications.
- Oversee production of structural drawings and coordinate with roadway, traffic, geotechnical, and survey teams.
- Manage multiple structural projects, including budgets, schedules, and client communication.
- Review the work of junior engineers and provide mentorship, training, and technical direction.
- Conduct quality control reviews to ensure compliance with PennDOT standards, AASHTO LRFD, and applicable codes.
- Support proposals, project scoping, and business development activities as MSG expands its structural practice in PA.
- Attend coordination meetings with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Lead efforts to improve structural design processes, workflows, and team development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) required; Structural Engineer (SE) licensure preferred.
- 15 years of structural engineering experience with bridges or transportation structures.
- Experience with PennDOT design criteria and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as LEAP Bridge, STAAD, LARSA, SAP2000, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience delivering PennDOT or local agency projects.
- Experience conducting load ratings and complex structure analysis.
- Ability to support and grow a new structural engineering team in a developing market.
