Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for Drilling Assistant to assist with our projects in Canton, MI!

Key Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Drilling Assistant to join our team based out of our Canton, MI office. This is a field-based, hands-on role supporting our drilling operations, which are primarily focused on geotechnical and environmental subsurface investigations.

As the right-hand person to the Lead Driller, you’ll play a critical part in helping to safely and efficiently operate drill rigs and perform field investigations. This is an entry-level opportunity with on-the-job training provided — a great fit for someone looking to begin a career in the geotechnical, environmental, or construction fields.

Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with operation of drill rigs on geotechnical and environmental projects
· Support the Lead Driller with equipment setup, drilling operations, and site cleanup
· Handle and transport drilling tools and materials
· Perform manual labor and lift heavy equipment and samples (up to 50 lbs)
· Maintain a clean and organized worksite
· Follow all safety procedures and protocols
· Accurately complete field documentation as needed
· Travel to job sites across the region (primarily field-based work)
· Adapt to varying start times based on project location (typically early morning)
· Work 8–10 hour days, with weekly hours ranging from 40 to 60 depending on workload

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED required
· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
· Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy equipment
· Strong work ethic and reliability are a must
· Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

Additional Information:
· This is a field-based position — majority of time will be spent on active job sites
· Occasional travel may be required depending on project locations
· PPE and safety training will be provided
