Electromechanical Assembler

About The Malwin Company

The Malwin Company is an aerospace and defense enterprise that brings together specialized engineering, manufacturing, and technology capabilities under one organization.

Our teams design, develop, manufacture, and support highly specialized products and solutions for demanding aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. We combine deep technical expertise with shared resources, broader opportunities, and an enterprise-wide approach to growth, creating an environment where specialized teams can do their best work while contributing to a larger mission.

Position Summary

The Electromechanical Assembler builds, wires, and tests finished aerospace instruments

by integrating machined components, printed circuit board assemblies, sensors, and wire

harnesses.

The role requires careful manual work, strict adherence to controlled work

instructions, and full documentation of every operation. Entry-level candidates with strong

manual dexterity will be trained on company processes and industry workmanship

standards; mid-level candidates with prior aerospace, medical, or military electronics

experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble subassemblies and final instruments according to released work instructions, drawings, and bills of materials at the correct revision level.
  • Perform through-hole soldering, wire stripping, crimping, and harness routing in accordance with IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards.
  • Apply thread lockers, torque fasteners to spec, and align mechanical assemblies using fixtures and gauges.
  • Operate basic test equipment (multimeter, power supply, oscilloscope) to perform continuity checks and functional verification.
  • Record serial numbers, lot codes, and operation signoffs on travelers; do not bypass or sign for operations not personally performed.
  • Identify nonconforming components or workmanship and route them through the Material Review process rather than rework without authorization.
  • Work in an ESD-controlled environment and follow handling procedures for sensitive electronic components.
  • Maintain FOD discipline at the bench: control loose hardware, account for fasteners and tooling, and protect open assemblies.
  • Support continuous improvement by suggesting fixture, process, or documentation enhancements through the corrective action system.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good manual dexterity and color vision (for wire identification).
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions and mechanical drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic hand tools (screwdrivers, torque drivers, crimpers, soldering irons) — or willingness to be trained.
  • For mid-level candidates: 1–3 years of hands-on assembly experience, preferably with electromechanical or electronic products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification (training and certification provided for entry-level hires).
  • Prior assembly experience in an AS9100, ISO 13485, or military electronics environment.
  • Experience with calibration, functional test, or burn-in procedures.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems for tracking work orders and serialized builds.
