Summary

The Curator serves as the primary content developer for exhibitions at the International Spy Museum. This position is responsible for researching and creating content deliverables including exhibition copy, film scripts and other narrative assets. The Curator works with the Vice President of Exhibitions and Collections to conceptualize and develop permanent and temporary exhibitions, update existing exhibit content and recommend changes and initiatives that improve the quality of our exhibitions offerings and showcase our unique collection. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and experienced museum curator who is able to work collaboratively, adhere to project deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate as member of an 8-person team that oversees the exhibitions, collections and other educational and interactive content for the Museum.

• Responsible for researching and developing exhibition content, writing, thematic narratives, artifact selections, film scripts, and other projects for multiple Museum audiences.

• Working closely with the Museum historian and other content experts to provide the most current and accurate information for Spy Museum content – updating existing content and making suggestions for changes.

• Work closely with other divisions to provide copy and content for various platforms including the Spy website, press releases, social media, educational publications and other projects as assigned.

• Work with a focus on innovation, creativity and the most recent interpretive strategies and technologies

Minimum Education Required

· Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Museum studies. Specialty in intelligence or military history is desirable.


Minimum Experience Required

· Museum exhibitions experience required, including experience writing scripts, artifact research, website copy, press and promotional materials. Writing samples requested.

· A thorough and exacting researcher and writer with experience in exhibitions.

· An ability to think imaginatively and creatively in a collegial environment.

· An ability to work effectively with designers and other vendors.

· Comfortable speaking publicly to a variety of audiences about content and the mission.

· An ability to connect with people, stakeholders, and organizations.

· An ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

· Some travel required.

· Ability to work some nights and weekends.

Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
