The Account Manager position is responsible for managing the overall workflow for the books of business assigned to them. Account Managers handle all lines of Employee Benefits for their accounts and serve as the main contact for the clients.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their employee benefits needs are met and addressing any issues or concerns they may have.
- Day-to-day service questions for an assigned book of accounts.
- Benefits Plan Design and Administration: Assist clients in designing and implementing employee benefits programs, including health insurance, ancillary benefits, and other perks, to align with their organizational goals and employee needs.
- Secures and maintains current benefit plan summaries/documents, amendments, etc.
- Answers questions regarding plan interpretation and compliance.
- Follows up with clients/advisors on action plans to ensure decisions are implemented, contracts prepared, and appropriate parties are notified.
- Market Research and Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive offerings to provide clients with informed recommendations and ensure their benefits plans remain competitive and compliant.
- Prepares renewal binders, proposals, and spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Enrollment and Communication: Facilitate employee benefits enrollment processes, provide clear communication to employees about their benefits options, and offer support during open enrollment periods.
- Actively and effectively manages annual enrollment periods and the implementation of plan changes and coverage transfer.
- Support installation of benefit administration systems, e.g., Employee Navigator.
- Provides employee communications to clients such as annual benefit enrollment guide, Wix/digital benefit solutions, PowerPoint presentations, benefit summaries, enrollment forms etc.
- Claims and Issue Resolution: Handle and resolve any issues related to benefits claims, working closely with insurance carriers and third-party administrators to ensure prompt and accurate resolution.
- Assists with day-to-day service issues and concerns such as complex service issues, claims, billing, eligibility, enrollment, and coverage issues.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present reports on benefits plan performance, costs, and utilization to clients, and maintain accurate documentation and records related to benefits administration and compliance.
- Documents issues related to clients in the document management system.
- Works collaboratively with Advisors and Account Executive (as appropriate) regarding client needs to deliver exceptional service.
- Agency Management System. Responsible for updating the agency management system and customer files in the document management system according to agency procedure.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, to internal and external parties.
- Excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, carriers, and peers.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Applied Epic experience preferred
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 or more years of experience in Employee Benefits.
- State Life and Health License required.
